Earth Day Green Roof Restoration

Hello, all lovers of Earth!  Are you interested in contributing to the wellness of our home planet? Do you want to have an impact on the future health of our world?  Have you ever wanted to learn more about the benefits of “green” building technology?  Then join us at the NASA Langley Research Center to celebrate Earth Day by learning how NASA is sustaining the Earth with environmentally-friendly, ‘green’ technology and helping to restore our very own green roof!

We need volunteers between April 17th – 28th. on the NASA Langley administration building roof to help weed, plant, and set up a new irrigation system, and we want YOU to be a part of this community effort to make our world a healthier place to live!  You do not need to be an expert gardener to help, all volunteers will be guided, and any amount of time contributed to the project will be greatly appreciated.  All volunteers will be provided with a pair of garden gloves and water. We would like to inform everyone that this event will focus on restoration work on the roof and will involve squatting, kneeling, or bending over for a few hours at a time.  Please be aware of your personal limitations when signing up.  Even though we understand that including our next generation in events that are focused on a better future, we, unfortunately, need to ask that all volunteers are 18 years and older due to safety concerns.

If you would like to participate on any or all of these days, anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., please contact Amanda Stark at amanda.stark@nasa.gov with your availability by no later than April 7th.  We hope to see you there!
