It’s important to prevent debris and sediment on construction sites from making its way into storm drains (also known as inlets). The water and debris that enter the storm drains do not get sent to a water plant for treatment – they actually flow directly into the local waterways. This stormwater and debris can also carry harmful pollutants, chemicals, and bacteria. Containing debris and sediment within the construction site and protecting storm drains is important so that our local waterways can be clean and clear.
